Our story
Named after Frida, built like her
The founder is a sculptor who, in his own words, tried everything — mechanic, stage performer, ice-cream maker, boat repairer — before he found the work that joined all of it: building boats by hand. His first design, the Aurora 27, he calls "the largest sculpture I have ever made". It took nine months, a brother, a cousin, two masters and a varnisher — every one of them thanked by name the day she was finished.
The yard is named after Frida Kahlo: a symbol, they write, of refusing the word impossible — of dreams carried patiently through every difficulty. It began under a tent; today it works from its own tersane in Bozburun, with three hulls on the floor and the whole village watching launches from the quay.

The Frida standard
No moulds, no shortcuts
Every Frida is drawn from scratch and built as a one-off — design, engineering and craft advancing together. "For us, even a millimetre matters" is not a slogan here; it is the working method.
Built in the open
Every stage of every hull is shared publicly — twenty thousand people follow the yard build by build. A workshop with nothing to hide is the best warranty a wooden boat can carry.
Pass the craft on
Students visit the floor, young builders are welcomed, questions are answered one by one. "This trade is not only building boats — it is sharing knowledge and bringing new people to the sea."
The team
A family on the shop floor
Brothers, cousins, old masters and apprentices — the Frida team is small enough to fit on one bench for the photo, and close enough that every finished hull carries all their names. The maintenance crew readies boats for the water outside while the builders raise new frames inside: same precision, same tempo, both trades under one roof.
